Do all low lying fog machines need dry ice?
No. Some machines use dry ice and heated water, while others use regular ice, distilled water, compatible fog fluid or an integrated cooling system.
-
Why does low-lying fog sometimes rise instead of staying on the floor?
Low fog stays near the floor while it remains cooler than the surrounding air. Warm rooms, air conditioning, fans, open doors and people moving across the floor can warm or disturb the effect.
-
What fluid should I use in a low fog machine?
Use only the fluid type recommended by the machine’s manufacturer. A product labelled as low-fog fluid is not automatically compatible with every machine, and using the wrong formulation can affect performance or damage the heating system.

Can a low lying fog machine activate a smoke alarm?
We can’t promise that it won’t. Whether an alarm responds depends on the detector, atmospheric concentration and venue system, so you’ll need to get permission from the venue owner before use and arrange a test before your event if required. Never cover or disable a smoke detector yourself!
